CLEAR SPEECH (Pronunciation) - Levels 1 & 2
This pronunciation course concentrates on studying the sounds of English, its rhythm, stress and intonation, by focusing on the related skills of listening and pronunciation. You will identify (listening) and produce (speaking) sounds in isolation as well as in context. As a second language learner, you need to practice your listening and speaking skills to communicate effectively with other native speakers. To succeed in this class you must speak, open your mouth to imitate sound patterns and listen attentively.

This vocabulary building course concentrates on developing the skill to expand your vocabulary through fun and interactive activities and exercises. You will learn to recognize word patterns and to guess about word meaning based on word roots. You will gain skills that will allow you to move forward in your English study, to progress to more advanced levels of communciation. As with the Clear Speech course, you will identify (listening) and produce (speaking) sounds in isolation as well as in context.

Good for you! The fact that you are in this writing class shows us your interest in becoming a better English language user. In this course, you will improve your written communication at an elementary level. You will familiarize yourself with the Latin alphabet. You will build strategies for reading and decoding sounds. In addition to improving your reading competency, you will gain a better understanding of the formation of words in English, improve your spelling, and work on cursive writing.

This course is designed to help students develop and enhance intermediate grammar skills while listening, speaking, reading and writing English. Special focus is placed on the language skills needed to communicate in an English-speaking environment. Students will be given opportunities to practice the tools and skills they will need to interact with native speakers outside the classroom.

In this course, you will get a lot of help and exercise in writing organized, clear, and logical compositions in English so that you can express yourself in writing. Even though this is a writing course, you will have a lot of opportunities to talk, read and discuss a wide range of interesting themes. Whether you want to use English for personal, academic or work purposes, you will need to have good writing skills. This course will help you begin the experience of enjoying writing and becoming a more rounded English user.

This course will help students develop a solid foundation for their listening, reading, writing and speaking skills in preparation for the IELTS Test. In this course students will learn test taking strategies to help them reach their IELTS test score goal. Students will prepare specifically for the listening and speaking modules, as well as the Academic Reading and Writing components. Mini tests will be administered throughout the course to track the students’ progress. This elective course is open to students whose English level is at the equivalent of CEP Level 3 and 4. Students may be required to take the MEPT and/or oral assessment before entering this class.

This advanced Business English Course gives students in the higher English levels a comprehensive introduction to communication for business. Students will develop deeper skills needed in more specific business contexts and environments. They will further expand the vocabulary used in general and specific business contexts. This course brings the real world of business into the classroom where students are able to practice and enrich their confidence and communication skills in specific business settings.

In this course, you will elevate your writing skills to allow you to enter Canadian college or university with confidence. You will learn to compose longer papers, and to express yourself in writing with clarity. As with all GEOS courses, even though this is a writing course, you will have many opportunities to talk, read and discuss a wide range of interesting themes.
